i am attending a training starting today until the next two days..
i learned about first impression today.. the trainer said, perception is reality.. when i heard it for the first time, i felt such a burden on my shoulder..
kita selalu fikir, GTH with what other people think about us.. they don't know who we really are! don't judge a book by its cover bla bla bla.. sebenarnya salah untuk fikir macam tu.. atas alasan orang lain tak kenal kita la maka kita sepatutnya menjadikan first impression orang lain terhadap kita adalah positif.. supaya orang lain tak salah anggap terhadap kita.. kan?
dulu masa aku praktikal kat satu company ni, i remember my supervisor told me.. we should dress up like who we want to be.. contohnya, kalau bercita2 nak jadi boss, kena la dress up macam boss.. takde la tiru sebiji2 macam bos tu.. nanti bos ingat korang saiko lak kan.. meaning, dress up la in a proper office attire.. when you dress up properly, people at least feel confident and easy to work with you.. and don't forget to put a smile on your face ^___-
itu kalau bab kerja..
berapa banyak kali kita pernah encounter dengan situasi di mana bila kita masuk butik pakaian yang mahal2, promoter tu buat tak layan je.. sebabnya kita punya appearance telah mencetuskan perception yang salah kepada promoter tu.. ye betul, customers are customers.. promoter sepatutnya melayan pelanggan.. tapi tahu tak, they also have to identify between serious buyers, potential buyers and window-shopper? kalau kita pergi shopping mall sekadar nak window-shopping then takpe, tak payah susah2 fikir pasal first impression ni.. tapi kalau berniat untuk shopping, then think about it.. bukan apa, senang.. kita masuk je promoter dah sambut.. tunjuk2 je nak yang mana, promoter dah menggagau cari barang.. kalau boleh nak tolong sarungkan ke badan kita sekali agaknya.. tinggal tak boleh je kot kan.. hehe..
tapi tak tau la kalau korang tak suka promoter layan korang kan.. aku suka.. terasa macam orang kaya yang shopaholic.. hohohohoo.. :-D
i also remember my lecturer told me a story about her and her husband went to a bank to ask for loan.. they are simple people with big income.. she said they were wearing simple attire with sandals.. by the first look, people will think them as some normal middle class couple.. lepas tu sibuk la dok kutuk2 bank officer tu kata tak mau layan diorang sebab ingat diorang ni orang yang biasa2 je.. officer tu layan diorang betul2 only after they showed their pay slips..
well, dulu of course la aku akan sokong lecturer aku and kutuk2 bank officer tu sebab judge people simply by the looks.. tapi bila fikir2 balik, officer tu tak salah pun.. siapa suruh lecturer aku laki bini tu pakai sempoi sangat kan.. it's not that troublesome to dress up a little just to get the right perception from other people right? kaya kot, takkan la nak beli baju pun berkira? :-\
aku ingat lagi masa mula2 masuk U, masa faculty induction held by the seniors.. diorang cukup marah kalau juniors pakai pants.. wajib pakai jeans.. no high heels, no blouses for the girls.. tak engineer kot pakai sopan2 ayu2 smart2.. adoi, rosak pemikiran adik2 yang masih mentah.. termasuk la aku kot.. dah la aku dulu memang gaya tomboi selekeh2 kan.. sabo je la..
sama juga aplikasinya terhadap etika berpakaian.. the trainer gave a simple example, when we see a bunch of girls wearing sexy dresses with short skirts sedang berborak2 di tepi jalan.. dapat pulak tepi jalan tu area night clubs, pubs segala.. kita terus assume those girls are some prostitutes waiting for clients.. mana la kita nak tau entah2 tak semuanya pelacur.. mungkin salah seorang dari mereka adalah just another girl who is trying to get some help because she had a flat tire..
kesimpulannya di sini, sebelum kita menyalahkan orang lain kenapa they judge us wrongly, think again.. perhaps we are the one who are sending the wrong message to them..
adios!
